The Automotive Service Association of Arizona (ASA-AZ) is offering a $1000 scholarship to 4 Arizona high school or community college students each year who are intent on pursuing their automotive education at any of the following Arizona post secondary schools.  These scholarships are awarded through the "Student of the Year Banquets" held each year in Tucson and Phoenix respectively.  Click here to learn more about these banquets.

Universal Technical Institute

Mesa Community College
Arizona Automotive Institute Pima Community College
Arizona Western College Yavapai Community College
Gateway Community College Glendale Community College
Mohave County Community College

(See the Education Links Page for more school program information.)

The amount awarded to the school will be $500 each semester, or $1000 total for the school year.  As more high school graduates are encouraged to seek automotive careers, ASA-AZ believes that the scholarships we offer are important for several reasons.

  • This scholarship may make the difference in whether a student has the financial resources to continue their education.
  • A student entering the automotive field as a career will have a much better chance to succeed with additional education.
  • The automotive industry has a sizeable shortage of entry level technicians.
  • The automotive industry offers a rewarding career to those who acquire the skills and knowledge necessary.
  • Layoffs in the automotive repair industry are virtually non-existent.
  • The pay and benefits for an automotive technician are very competitive to other careers.

To be eligible for a scholarship, high school seniors must be enrolled in high school automotive coursework, and not be involved with GM-ASEP, A-YES, Ford ASSET, DaimlerChrysler CAP, Toyota T-10, or Nissan PRO-CAP programs.

Community College students majoring in automotive technology can also apply.

All qualified applications will be reviewed with primary consideration given to a personal essay (500 words maximum) to include their goals toward an automotive career and reasons why they should be awarded a scholarship.  Secondary consideration will be given to GPA and letters of recommendation.

A plus for consideration, is previous involvement in VICA Auto Skills, Ford/AAA, AADA, Pit Crew, or other automotive contests.

The deadline for submission for the "Student of the Year" is March 15.

Potential Automotive Instructors can apply for a $1500.00 scholarship through ATIEA (Arizona Industrial Technology Education Association.)  Click here to go to the ATIEA web site scholarship page.  Please note in the application that you intend to be an automotive instructor.
